The John Smith shallop will stop at the Calvert Marine Museum in Solomons, Maryland for a two-day commemoration of Smith's exploration of the Patuxent River and his encounters with the Patuxent Indians.  There is an entry fee to visit the museum.

In 1608, Smith and his crew voyaged up the Patuxent River, apparently with the aid of a local Algonquin guide who helped with the exploration and mapping, as well as providing names for each of the villages along the river's banks. Friendly relations were established with local villages, who directed Smith to the werowance village of Pawtuxunt on the eastern shore of Battle Creek, where the evening was spent with feasting and festivities.
