Sultana Projects, Inc.
History, Mission & Goals
In response to
increasing threats posed to the environmental and historic resources of
Maryland's upper Eastern Shore, a group of community leaders came
together in 1997 to found Sultana Projects. A grass-roots, private
non-profit, Sultana Projects is dedicated to a mission of providing
unique, hands-on educational opportunities that promote stewardship of
the Chesapeake's historic, cultural and environmental legacies. In the
decade since its founding, Sultana's programs have been so well received
that the organization has expanded its horizons beyond the Eastern Shore
and now works with communities in Maryland, Virginia, Delaware and the
District of Columbia. By helping students of all ages develop an
appreciation of the Chesapeake's natural and historic resources, Sultana
Projects is creating a community of individuals who are dedicated to the
preservation of these irreplaceable treasures.
