The second portion of Smith's 1608 voyage brings the shallop
swiftly to the Susquehanna flats where Smith explores the
Susquehanna, Sassafras, Northeast and Elk rivers where he
encounters the Massawomeck, Tockwogh and Susquehannock Indians.
The expedition next heads south to map the Patuxent and
Rappahannock Rivers before returning to Jamestown on September
